As you may already know, Oil & Gas UK (OGUK), now rebranded to Offshore Energies UK (OEUK), sets a standard of fitness to be reached by anyone working in the industry here. That standard applies to the UK first and foremost but is being increasingly accepted as a worldwide indicator of health and fitness for anyone working in the oil and gas industry. In fact only recently, the Norwegian oil & gas industry (in the North Sea) have started accepting the OGUK/OEUK certification, meaning there's no longer any need to double up.
What is the OGUK/OEUK standard?
The OGUK/OEUK medical standard lays down certain requirements which must be met, including:
- Photographic ID
- A comprehensive medical, social and occupational history
- Appropriate clinical examination
- Further investigations as required
Health and safety is the number one priority for the oil & gas industry. And the examination plays a part in that. It gives protection to the individuals receiving certification and - by extension - reduces risk for their fellow offshore team members who often rely on them to carry out their job properly.

Important booking requirement
OEUK now requires your blood pressure, height and weight to be carried out locally. Prior to your remote medical appointment you must have a completed OEUK medical form, signed by a registered medic, nurse or pharmacist (we don’t encourage asking GPs to deal with the form) who may charge you a small fee.

Once completed, simply upload it to start off the booking process - a phone photo or scanned copy is acceptable. The booking isn’t completed though until payment is made.
Remote (online) OGUK/OEUK medical
OGUK/OEUK medicals can be completed remotely in line with the latest OEUK standards.
